2014 — 2019

A neighborhood show that outgrew the room

Kids Rip the Runway started as a community kids fashion show in Boston: borrowed chairs, a taped-down runway, and a line of families down the block. Over several seasons it grew into a real production with hundreds of young models, local kidswear designers, hair and makeup teams, and an audience that came back every year. What made it work was never the budget. It was watching a shy nine-year-old reach the end of the runway and realize the room was cheering for her.

2020 — 2026

Quiet years, and a deliberate rebuild

The show paused. Families moved, venues closed, and the world made large indoor gatherings for children impossible for a stretch. We used the pause to rebuild the thing properly: clearer safeguarding standards, guardian-led registration, a production plan that respects kids' attention spans, and a sponsorship model designed to fund scholarship spots instead of leaning on family fees.

2027

A Boston Fashion Week comeback

For 2027 we return with a children's runway positioned inside Boston Fashion Week — professional lighting, professional production, professional photography, and a stage where kids from every Boston neighborhood can see themselves represented. Exact dates and venue are to be announced. The interest list is open now, and it is how families and designers hear first.

What we're holding onto

The same heart, a much bigger stage.

Kids first, always: Every production decision is measured against one question: is this good for the child on stage?
Representation on purpose: Casting reflects Boston — every neighborhood, every body, every ability, every background.
Real craft, real standards: Professional lighting, sound, styling and photography. Kids' work deserves an adult-grade stage.
Access over exclusivity: Sponsor-funded and scholarship spots so a family's budget isn't the deciding factor.
